  • Community Iftar

    Over 150 members of our community joined us for Iftar on Friday 🌙

    Everyone was invited to join in on our inclusive evening, adapted to suit everyone’s needs.

    We had pupils attend with their families, as well as staff and their families, all sharing great food together! We were honoured to have multiple speakers throughout the evening, reminding us what Ramadan is all about!

    We would like to thank a number of places who helped to provide this opportunity. Without you this evening wouldn’t be able to go ahead:

  • Treasure Island

    M&M Theatrical Productions visited our BD7 site for a performance of Treasure Island! 🏴‍☠️


    As part of ‘The Delius Experience’ programme that’s run here at Co-op Academy Delius, all of our pupils get chances to experience live theatre and a range of performances throughout their journey with us!
    Pupils LOVED following Jim Hawkins on his adventure and even joining in with parts of the production! 🧭

     

    After the production of Treasure Island, our pupils in our Astronaut Pathway had a bespoke workshop learning about how the production is put together! 👀

    From moving stage sets, exciting costumes and even sound and lighting - pupils got hands on exploring all that has to happen to make a performance! 🏴‍☠️

    Lots of our pupils have said they now want to be actors or stage managers!!

    Thanks to Happy Days Children's Charity for helping us to make this happen for our pupils!

  • World Book Day!

    We had a fabulous day celebrating World Book Day across school! 

    Our theme this year was Bedtime Stories & we had lots of exciting activities to really immerse ourselves. From making sock puppets to designing our own pillowcases for the midday sleepover we had in the hall!

    Our tradition of decorating our doors came back too, with all the doors across school turned into our favourite Bedtime Stories! 

    It was great to see so many staff and pupils dressed up as their favourite characters or in their PJ's ready to enjoy reading and stories all together!!

    Our pupils work hard to earn their swimming badges during swimming lessons here at Co-op Academy Delius! Working their way up badges helps our pupils know how to improve their swimming skills and keep getting even better!

  • Pancake Day in Orange Base

    Orange Base have been practicing their skills ready for Pancake Day next week! They had to communicate their choices throughout, working on their independence too, and following instructions! 

    They loved tasting their pancakes after - it was a very sticky morning!

  • Children's Mental Health Week

    This week has been Children's Mental Health Week! 

    Across school, pupils took part in lots of wellbeing-boosting activities, learning about their mental health, and even more importantly, strategies to help them keep up positive mental health! 

    From 'open houses' in comets pathway where pupils had the opportunity to visit other classrooms and take part in a range of activities, to 'happy discos' where pupils chose their favourite mood-boosting songs! We took part in lots of our favourite things together, including parachute games, singing & dancing, cooking and relaxing footspas! Some of us even made valentines cards for others to make them happy! 

    Classes joined in with activities with friends from different classes, because everything is better together!!! 

    Being happy at school is a fundamental here at Co-op Academy Delius, so lots of strategies and learning are weaved through our curriculum too!

  • NSPCC Number Day!

    🔢 NSPCC Number Day! 🔢

    Pupils across school joined in with lots of number challenges today!

    From counting, ordering and even multiplying, there was something for everyone to challenge themselves to! 💪

    Did you know we also have our own Delius Multi-sensory numbers scheme? This is where a number is matched with a colour, scent and movement - so everyone can engage with numbers in a meaningful way! 🔴🟡🟠

    Activities were set up across our fabulous spaces, including the sensory rooms, immersive suite, learning corridors and our classrooms! ✨

  • BD3 Sharing Stories

    We had a lovely evening hiding from the weather in the Science & Media Museum on the 5th of Feb! 🌨️

    Lots of our pupils joined in with the ‘Sharing Stories’ event at the museum, with arts and storytelling workshops. We all made our own notebooks, and even printed the front cover. 📖

    We joined in with a dance workshop ‘From Congo to Bradford’ and joined in with an inspiring drumming workshop! 🕺 We also got to explore the whole museum whilst it was nice and quiet!

    It was great to join pupils from other schools in BD3 for some evening fun! 🤝

  • Spring Stunning Start

    Our Stunning Start took place last week, kicking off our new topics for this term! ✨

    Our topics this term are:
    🌲EYFS: The Enchanted Woodland - How will you go through the woods today?
    🎈Lower Primary: Up, Up, Up and Away! - How high can you fly?
    ❄️ Upper Primary: Frozen Worlds - How will you get there?

    Our Immersive Room was transformed into the Gruffalo’s den! Pupils were searching for the characters through the sensory trays – who do you think they found?

    Our Courtyard at BD3 and Sensory Room at BD7 were transformed into a snowy wonderland, taking our pupils into the middle of our Upper Primary story ‘A Dot in the Snow’.

    We explored our new story ‘Stuck’ by knocking away the objects stuck in our trees outside! There was even a duck stuck in our tree! 🐥

    A farm also popped up, as in Geography we are learning about the differences between cities and rural environments! We had an animal farm and vegetable farm, learning what vegetables we could plant on a vegetable farm! 🥔🥕

    We were also making waterways as we’re learning about rivers this term! 💦

    Our pupils at BD7 were also making kites as in art we will be making sculptures – and with our topic being ‘Up, Up, Up and Away’ we had to make sure our sculptures could fly! 🎈

  • Galaxies Pathway visits The Turner Prize

    Recently pupils in our Galaxies Pathway visited the Turner Prize exhibition at Cartwright Hall! 🖼️

    Pupils spent time in 2 galleries and had bespoke workshops designed just for us in them:

    🐚A beautiful shiny room with sea sounds and bells by Zadie Xa. In this room we had a workshop around the sounds in the room and the movement of water through using material.

    🌈 A room with work by Nnena Kalu, who won the 2025 Turner Prize! Nnena’s sculptures are vibrant with different materials wrapped together. We had our go at making a sculpture inspired by her work.

    Nnena is the first person with a disability to win the Turner Prize, so it was extra special seeing what we can all achieve! ✨

    In November we attended The Co-op Academies Trust Recognition Awards and came away with 3 awards! ✨

    🤝 Our fabulous Mumtaz won the ‘Community Award’ for all the excellent work she does within our community!

    👏 Abdus also came away with an award for ‘being himself always’ and being a super role model for this ‘Co-op way of being’!

    ….. We’re incredibly proud to also announce that we’ve been awarded ‘Special School of the Year’ for the third year running! ⭐️

    This achievement belongs to our amazing colleagues and our wonderful community. Your dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment ensure that our pupils receive the very best every single day!

    A huge congrats to Mumtaz, Abdus, and our whole academy team, we’re so proud of you all! 👏

    Christmas at Delius

    Christmas Crafternoons

    These afternoons are an opportunity for families to come into classes for fun Christmas crafts and making lasting memories! 

    Families can see their child in class alongside their friends, and learn more about what they get up to in their school day! It was fab having so many parents, siblings and grandparents getting stuck in!

    Christmas Shows

    Our Upper Primary and BD7 performance of ‘The Fleece Force’ was brilliant! There was lots parts, with everyone working together brilliantly! From Camels riding past, shining angels, shepherds… and not to forget, sheep! 🐑

    Our Lower Primary’s performance of ‘Whoopsie-daisy Angel’ was truly magical! For lots of these pupils it was one their first times in a performance so big, and they took it all in their stride! 👼

    Santa Visits

    All pupils also got to visit Santa in his grotto and received a present. Pupils loved spending time with Santa, telling him about all kinds of things! Santa came whooshing into BD3 in a snow storm, and arrived at BD7 on his Donkeys!
